Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Program is a structured engineering development opportunity within the Plant and Equipment Department (PED) of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Program is designed to strengthen local engineering capacity, build and develop engineers who can progress into future Workshop Supervisor and Workshop Manager positions.

Responsibilities of Julius Berger Workshop Engineer

Julius Berger Workshop Engineer will:

1. Support the Workshop Supervisor in all technical and quality-related aspects of repair, service, and maintenance activities within the assigned workshop or equipment group

2. Review work orders and identify appropriate repair methods, tools, and materials to ensure technically sound and efficient implementation 

3. Offer engineering support in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and the identification of alternative technical solutions or temporary repairs when standard parts or methods are unavailable

4. Carryout and assist with in-process and final inspections of completed works, making sure repair quality, functionality, and safety requirements are met before equipment release

5. Verify that test runs and functional checks are carried out under safe conditions by authorized and licensed personnel

6. Document inspection results, measurements, and quality findings accurately in the Equipment Programme or designated records

7. Report deviations, recurring failures, or non-conformity to the Workshop Supervisor and Senior Engineer and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective measures

8. Assist in the execution of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and in monitoring technical performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities

9. Offer on-the-job technical guidance and knowledge transfer to mechanics, electricians, and technicians, supporting staff competence development

10. Make sure workshop standards, safety procedures, and quality requirements are consistently observed during all maintenance operations

11. Make sure all maintenance operations follow PED safety guidelines

12. Assist the Supervisor in enforcing discipline, order, and correct use of tools and materials

Requirements for Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Program

Candidates applying for Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Program must:

1. Have a Degree in:

A. Mechanical Engineering 

B. Electrical Engineering 

C. Automobile Engineering

D. Related technical field 

2. Have two to three years experience in maintenance, repairs, fleet management, or engineering support within PED

3. Have a written recommendation letter from his or her current Supervisor or Manager confirming good behavior and discipline, technical suitability and readiness for development

4. Have strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems

5. Have the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and workshop documentation

6. Have good diagnostic and problem-solving skills

7. Have a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and safety awareness

8. Have good communication skills and willingness to guide others

9. Have the ability to work in a fast-paced workshop environment
