Npower News: National Association of Npower Beneficiaries Writes Office of the Federal Permanent Secretary

According to Npower News, the National Association of Npower beneficiaries have written a letter to the office of the federal permanent secretary requesting an audience and a visit to meet with the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency to discuss issues around payment of outstanding stipends (See original copy of letter below).

According to Npower News, the National Association of Npower beneficiaries are planning to meet with the officials of the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation by Wednesday next week.

Nigeria Youth Investment Fund Application Process Begins This Month – Jamila Ibrahim

 

As part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 'Renewed Hope' initiative, Minister of Youth Development Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim has announced that the revamped Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) will start accepting applications this month. This move is aimed at providing financial support to young entrepreneurs for their innovative projects.

Dr. Ibrahim made the announcement during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Niger State.

She assured that the NYIF will streamline the application process, highlighting the government's dedication to nurturing entrepreneurial talent and providing crucial resources to turn business ideas into reality, which will help in job creation and economic development.

Dr. Ibrahim also reminded the corps members of a significant initiative announced in May 2024 to provide up to ten million naira each to at least 5,000 NYSC members for their entrepreneurial endeavors upon completing their service, which is expected to drive economic growth and sustainability.

Additionally, she revealed the launch of the National Youth Skills Programme (NYSP) this month. This program aims to train over one million young Nigerians in various fields such as technology and agriculture, offering a valuable chance to enhance employability and align with the evolving job market demands.

Dr. Ibrahim encouraged the corps members to leverage these opportunities, stressing the importance of acquiring new skills to ensure future success.

She advised them to utilize the NYIF to realize their business ideas and engage actively in the NYSP to build a diverse skill set during their NYSC year.

In his address, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago announced that his government would offer automatic employment to corps members in the medical and health sectors who are willing to work with the state to enhance healthcare services. He also revealed that the state government has allocated five billion naira for the construction of a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Niger State.

Npower Update: All Beneficiaries Will Receive Payments - Adeshina A. Adex

As reported by Npower News, the National Association of Npower Beneficiaries, through its Publicity Secretary, has confirmed that payments for Npower Batch C beneficiaries will be processed. Additionally, the Association has sent a letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which will be delivered by an Npower representative from Benue State.

Adeshina A. Adex stated, "All beneficiaries will be paid. There was an approval before the suspension, so the Government is obligated to fulfill this commitment as we have earned it through our work. We have prepared a letter addressed to Mr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which will be delivered by our representative from Benue State, Comrade Alfred Aondofa."

Npower News also advises Batch C beneficiaries to remain patient as the National Association plans to meet with the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation next Wednesday to address concerns about payment issues.

Student Loans: NELFUND Authorizes Additional Fund Disbursements for UI and Five Other Universities

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has approved disbursements for students from six universities who applied for loans between May 24 and July 17, 2024, as confirmed on its loan dashboard.

NELFUND advises students whose loan applications were approved during this period to check with their respective universities to ensure their tuition fees have been received, as noted on the official NELFUND X account.

The six universities involved are Bayero University Kano, University of Ilorin, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, University of Maiduguri, and Federal University Dutsinma.

The agency also mentioned that loan disbursements are being executed in stages. Students who applied after the current disbursement period will have their loans processed in future batches. NELFUND guarantees that all approved loans will be disbursed efficiently and transparently.

Students from other institutions not included in this disbursement cycle but with approved loans are asked to be patient. Their loans will be processed in upcoming batches.

NELFUND encourages all students to log in to their NELFUND portal to check their application status and stay updated on the disbursement process.

This loan scheme is a key initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, reflecting his commitment to enhancing educational access in Nigeria. Shortly after taking office, President Tinubu signed the Access to Higher Education Act to provide financial support to students in need for their tertiary education.
