Npower: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Sets Up Special Panel To Probe Npower And Other National Social Investment Programmes

President Bola Tinubu has set up a special panel to investigate, Npower and other National Social Investment Programmes, which were under the ex-Minister in charge of Npower Dr. Betta Edu.

The Presidential spokesman, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, made this in a statement this evening.

According to the statement made by the presidential spokesman, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu tasked the panel anchored by Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, to carry out a thorough audit of Npower and other social investment programs, which the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier suspended.

“In line to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s six week suspension of the four national social investment programmes under the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Special Presidential Panel, which will be headed by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun.”

“This Special Presidential Panel is tasked with immediately undertaking a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programmes with a view to implementing a total re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programmes with detailed modification to procedures guiding the programmes’ implementation moving forward.

“The Special Presidential Panel, which is comprised of ministers representing strategic sectors will ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort, and consists of the following members:

(A) Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance – Chairman

(B) Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare – Member

(C) Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning – Member

(D) Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation – Member

(E) Honourable Minister of Communicatons, Innovation and Digital Economy – Member

(F) Honourable Minister of State for Youth – Member

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu anticipates that this Special Presidential Panel will validate the confidence reposed in it by winning back all lost public confidence in these vital programmes over the years by ushering in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks that will prove impervious to abuse and incompetence for the exclusive benefit of disadvantaged households and vulnerable groups across our nation.”

Npower To Resume In Six Weeks Time

It is no longer news that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Npower as result of misappropriation of funds in the ministry and by the former ministers in charge of Npower Sadiya Umar Farouq and Dr Betta Edu, the CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency NSIPA was also investigated for misappropriation of funds.

According to Npower, Npower batch c should exercise patience for all investigations to be concluded, after the investigation is completed then Npower will resume in six weeks time under the Renewed Hope Job Creation program, in six weeks time the NSIPA will also be active for registration. Npower batch c should kindly note that the National Social Investment Programme Agency the agency in charge of Npower was established under an Act by the Federal Government and it cannot be scraped, in this vein Npower batch c beneficiaries should exercise patience they will receive their Npower payment.
