Npower: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Suspends Ms Halima Shehu As Head Of National Investment Agency (NSIPA) Agency In Charge Of Npower, Over Corruption Allegations

According to Npower, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Halima Shehu as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), the agency in charge of Npower.

According to Npower, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the immediate suspension and investigation of Ms Halima Shehu over corruption allegations, while Dr Akindele Egbuwalo the National Programme Manager for Npower was appointed to replace Ms Halima Shehu the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), the agency in charge of Npower.

According to Npower, Ms Halima Shehu was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2023, and her appointment was confirmed by the Senate on 18th October 2023.

Ms Halima Shehu worked as the National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, where she used her banking and career expertise to see to the digitalisation of the programme.

Ms Halima Shehu also worked at the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, the ministry in charge of Npower from 2017 to 2022.

According to Npower, Ms Halima Shehu was born in Kafin Dagi village, Katsina, Katsina State, Ms Halima Shehu had her First School Leaving Certificate, and attended the Federal Government College, Kaduna State, for her secondary school education, where she obtained her West African Examination Certificate (WAEC).

The former National Social Investment Programme Agency Chief Executive Officer, joined politics in 2010, during which she was first appointed in 2011 as a Senior Special Assistant to a former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema. Ms Halima Shehu the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, the agency in charge of Npower, also served as a member of the state’s Internal Revenue Board.

According to Npower, in 2016, Ms Halima Shehu was appointed by the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) where she temporarily worked as a presidential election observer in Cape Verde.

Npower On Npower Batch C Receiving More Npower Payment Soon

According to Npower on Npower batch c receiving more Npower payment soon, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation which is the ministry in charge of Npower, has recovered funds held by the Npower consultant for several months.

According to Npower, the National Program Manager of Npower, Mr Akindele, made this known following a meeting held with representatives of Npower batch c.

According to Npower, the National Program Manager of Npower, Mr Akindele said “The good news is that the funds have been recovered and Npower batch c will be getting more of their Npower payment soon. More Npower payment for Npower batch C who are yet to receive their Npower payment for 8 months will start soon.”

According to Npower, the National Program Manager of Npower, Mr Akindele revealed that the Minister in charge of Npower, Dr. Betta Edu, has been working tirelessly round the clock to stop irregularities within Npower.

According to Npower, the National Program Manager of Npower, Mr Akindele said that "These irregularities have made the common man to lose faith in the ability of Government to provide social safety cover for its population but Dr. Betta Edu is adopting all necessary steps to resolve these issues and deliver the Renewed Hope Mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerian youths.

“Many irregularities which hitherto had sabotaged the smooth implementation of Npower are being addressed. It would be recalled that on assumption of duty, it was noted that many Npower batch c did not receive Npower payment for their monthly allowances while monies were been held up by the consultant managing the enrollment and payment system whose contract had long expired. The good news is that the money has been recovered and it would allow for payment of Npower batch c.”

According to Npower, the National Program Manager, Mr Akindele also noted that these and more were the irregularities, which the Minister in charge of Npower, Dr. Betta Edu was committed to resolving so as to create a good foundation upon which the new Npower will expand to reach 5 million Nigerian youths.

The National Program Manager of Npower, therefore, called on Nigerian youths to be patient as the restructuring was in their best interest and it will lead to expansion of Npower to accommodate millions of Nigerian youths.
