Npower News: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Suspends Npower, School Feeding And Other National Social Investment Programmes For Six Weeks

According to Npower News, President Bola Tinubu has put on hold all administered Social Investment Programmes, which includes Npower, Conditional Cash Transfer, Home Grown School Feeding Program and other social investment programs by the National Social Investment Programme Agency the agency in charge of Npower.

According to Npower News, the Director Information, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Segun Imohiosen, said "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision was in view of the ongoing investigation of alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programmes.”

“All four programmes managed by the National Social Investment Programme Agency which includes Npower, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme and Home Grown School Feeding Programme have been put on hold for a period of 6 weeks in the first instance,” the statement read.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also raised significant concerns regarding operational lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to beneficiaries especially Npower beneficiaries, ”  the Director Information, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Segun Imohiosen said.

According to Npower News, President Bola Tinubu also set up a ministerial panel to carry out a holistic investigation of the agency’s operations to recommend necessary reforms of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

During the period of this suspension, all National Social Investment Programme Agency related operations, including but not limited to all distributions, events, payment to Npower beneficiaries and other beneficiaries, collaborations and registrations are now halted.

Npower: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Will Make Final Decision

According to Npower, the Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have weighed in on the recent suspension of Dr Betta Edu the ex-Minister in charge of Npower, imploring Npower batch c to be patient as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would take further action after the ongoing investigation is concluded.

According to Npower, this was as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Professionals Forum praised the swiftness at with which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reacted to the allegations of misappropriation of funds leveled against the ex-minister in charge of Npower Dr Betta Edu saying the development has sent a strong signal to all persons occupying public offices that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu means business with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Npower, on the suspension of Dr Betta Edu the ex-Minister in charge of Npower, the APC governors said, “The functions of a government include encouraging good things and good appointees and discouraging bad things and bad appointees. But as it has to do with what you just said, it is just an allegation, and in the wisdom of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is being probed. After the probe is concluded and the report is made available, the federal government will make a final decision. So Nigerians should not be in a haste, and not allow any sickness like ‘anxietyserosis.’

Npower On When The 9 Months Npower Payment To Npower Batch C Will Continue

According to Npower on when the 9 Months Npower payment to Npower batch c will continue, the 9 Months Npower Payment To Npower Batch C will continue after all investigations under the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation the ministry in charge of Npower is concluded. 

Recall that former Minister of the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation the ministry in charge of Npower Sadiya Umar Farouq was summoned by EFCC for alleged misappropriation of funds, same with the ex-Minister in charge of Npower Dr Betta Edu who was also called by the anti-graft agency for misappropriation of funds.

According to Npower, Npower batch A and Npower batch B beneficiaries are also making claims regarding the soft loan promised by the former Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq which is yet to be disbursed into their account even after completing their Npower nexit training nationwide.

Npower beneficiaries have started doubting the credibility of the current administration, and even some Npower beneficiaries are on the verge of conducting a nationwide protest, some Npower batch c beneficiaries claimed with evidence that they are yet to receive 9 Months stipend, some even 12 months stipends, an Npower batch c beneficiary who decided to remain anonymous said "even the one month stipend paid by December he is yet to receive a dime."
