Npower News: Sustainable National Movement Urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu To Forgive, Reinstate Betta Edu

According to Npower News, a group, Sustainable National Movement, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to forgive and reinstate the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

Founder of the group, Kayode Arimoro, made the call at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday 29th April 2024.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended Betta Edu the minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in January 2024, following matters that has to do with misappropriation of public funds by Betta Edu authorised in her ministry.

According to Npower News, Betta Edu came under fire from Nigerians for requesting the payment of ₦585,200,000 into the personal bank account of a civil servant, who is the accountant in charge of grants for Vulnerable Nigerians.

Mr Kayode Arimoro, a United States-based Nigerian Human rights activist, argued that the suspension of Betta is escalating poverty in Nigeria and that many Nigerians are now vulnerable.

Mr Kayode Arimoro said millions of vulnerable Nigerians who relied on the ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation especially beneficiaries of Npower, Conditional Cash Transfer, and Government Enterprise And Empowerment Programme (GEEP) for survival have been subjected to abject poverty since Betta Edu was suspended.

"Getting the ministry’s working right would have solved Nigeria’s problems by over 70 per cent, with one hundred and thirty three million people living below the poverty line and an additional ten million people thrown into poverty between January and April 2024 according to World Bank Macro Poverty Outlook for Nigeria: April 2024.

“That was the least deliverable that Edu promised to deliver, and she was all hands-on deck from her first day in office,” Mr Kayode Arimoro said.

Mr Kayode Arimoro said Betta Edu was not guilty of the fraud allegation against her and that some corrupt people planned to force her out of office.

Npower News: How To Check Number Of Beneficiaries That Have Received The Federal Government Grant

According to Npower News, beneficiaries and prospective beneficiaries of the federal government grant have been requesting for the number of beneficiaries that have received the federal government grant to be published on the federal government grant portal, few weeks ago the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, said that the federal government grant is ongoing and after all beneficiaries must have gotten the federal government grant, the names of the beneficiaries will be published on the federal government grant portal.

Beneficiaries and prospective beneficiaries of the federal government grant can check the number of beneficiaries that have received the federal government grant in their respective local government area by following the simple steps below:

1) The applicant for the federal government grant should click here

2) After clicking on the above link, the applicant should click on "grant" on the federal government grant portal

3) After clicking on grant the applicant should click on "view beneficiaries" on the federal government grant portal 

4) After clicking on "view beneficiaries" the applicant should scroll down the federal government grant page to check the number of beneficiaries that received the federal government grant against their local government area.

The federal government grant is ongoing and will continue in the coming weeks according to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, applicants yet to receive the federal government grant are urged to exercise patience as only a fraction of the total number of beneficiaries have received the federal government grant.
