Africa's most populous nation and largest economy has a youth unemployment challenge.

Nigerias unemployment rate as at second quarter of 2020 is 27.1% indicating that about 21.7 million Nigerians remain unemployed.

Nigeria’s unemployment and underemployment rate (28.6%) is a combined 55.7%.

This is contained in a recently released unemployment data report published by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Nigeria’s youth remain the hardest hit by unemployment with over 13.9 million people aged between 15 and 34 years unemployed.

When APC was campaigning for change ,one of the Cardinal point of their manifesto is economy: tackling poverty and unemployment among the youth population.

True to their words they initiated a social investment program (N-POWER) in tackling the tragedy called unemployment. Recruiting almost 500,000 unemployed graduates and non graduates.

These batches A and B of the SIP(N-POWER) served this country passionately at both Federal and State institutions: in classrooms, health care center's and our farmlands.

Their impact can never be overemphasized most especially in the education sector as they were able to close the gap to a large extent as state schools and Health centers are short staffed and permanent staff overwhelmed with the population of students and patient's respectively.

The Vice President and the inaugural officer In charge of Npower component of the President Muhammadu Buharis , National social investment program (NSIP) rolled up their sleeves to improve upon the success of the program. Thereby creating a transition program for the two batches who have almost served 4 years and 2 years respectively. Such that they can continue to add value to nation building through their hardwork, diligence and productive service that's felt across the length and breadth of the education sector , our health centre and farmlands.

These effort was short-lived not so long the NSIP was transferred into the new Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development headed by Sadiya Umar Faruq.

Her coming ushered a new era of stipend delays, stipend areas and disengagement of Volunteers without any clear cut transition program or policy.

She cut short the mandate of reducing unemployment. Her actions are a reversal to the success achieved in tackling poverty and youth unemployment and unrest. On # Youthmandate we stand.

We wish to remind Minister Sadiya that In the twilight of the first term of PMB's administration , Mr Afolabi told Volunteers that their PVCs is the guarantee to their permanency. The Honorable Minister believed in a kind of social Darwinism. Survival of the fittest. " Government can't do everything" , we were told , ' so it should settle for taking care of the strong and hope that economic ambition and charity will do the rest . Make the rich richer- and what falls from the table will be enough for the jobless youths and those who are trying desperately to work their way into employment.

What happens to partnership with state government and partnership with private corporations. What happens to releasing grants for entrepreneurs among the N-Power volunteers?

We unequivocally reject any transitional offer of loan as we are not going to mortgage our future for any government financial institution.

On # grant we stand.

Madam Minister, you are where you are today not because you are the best among your equals but by divine providence and opportunity by those who believed in you when you were crawling.

They gave you an opportunity to be able to give opportunity to millions whose fate is resting on your shoulder.

If you fail in this quest, history will never be kind to you.

We are not asking for too much. What we are asking of is a fair shot at opportunity that undeniably exists. To be able to add value of service, hardwork , diligence and to be able to earn a decent living with dignity.

It's also a way of inspiring our common ideals as a nation.

Permanency: Over 3,500 N-Power Volunteers Ready for “SIT-IN ABUJA” Peaceful Demonstration

No fewer than 3,500 disengaged N-Power volunteers from the 36 states and the FCT have taken Abuja city by surprise for a SIT-IN IN ABUJA peaceful demonstration. A demonstration that will stand the test of time.

The peaceful demonstration is scheduled to take place today 26th of August 2020 at the national Secretariat Abuja.

N-Power volunteers have already sort police permission and injunction to press on with their demand.

N-Power volunteers of the N-Power Scheme were recently disengaged by the government, a move not palatable for a country like Nigeria, with more than 60 million jobless youths. 

Disengaged N-Power volunteers will be contesting and questioning the disengagement plan carried out by the Umar Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

This is not the first demonstration, two massive demonstrations, were already carried out, but the government claimed they have no funds to permanent N-Power volunteers, citing poor economy and the global pandemic as reasons.

The “SIT-IN IN ABUJA” demonstration will be a long and precise one, not until the president addresses the situation himself, disengaged N-Power volunteers will not step an inch out of the Federal Capital territory.

N-Power volunteers for the demonstration took along blankets, stoves, cooking Utensils, Buckets, and Media outlets.

If I Do Not Get N-Power Job, My Husband Will Leave Me: An N-Power Batch C Applicant Cries Out

An N-Power applicant has expressed fears of losing her marriage, should she fail to get the Nigerian Empowerment Programme called N-Power.

Joy Unewuojo Sani told her colleagues, her marriage is at stake if sha failed to get a Job to support her husband.

Blessed with two Kids, Mrs Joy has suffered a lot of financial challenges and embarrassment, her husband, has been the bread winner of the family, providing all what is needed for the family to “stand” according to Mrs Joy.

She threatened never to forgive the Federal Government should she fail to secure a place in the 12 months contract N-Power Scheme.

The N-Power registration for batch C recently came to an end few weeks ago, more than 5.1 Million Nigerians applied for position.

A rigid procedure and process will be used to select the needed 400,000 N-Power Batch C Volunteers, which will leave more than 85% of the 5.1 million applicants screened out.

It can be best explained that, many applicants will get “a shocking surprise” of their lives when the final list comes out. As the process may not be as transparent as the two previous N&Power batches (A and B)

For Joy Unewuojo Sani, it can only get better when hopes abound and her marriage remains.

For now, she has been advised not to put her hope in the “Political Scheme”, to avoid heart breaks.

STEPS:



1) Log into your Npower account using your NPower login details



2) After logging in, you will see several options, click on " Bank Information" and carefully fill in your details, please make sure your names matches the names on your BVN printout. Fill your bank details carefully.



3) Click on "Personal Information" . Then you input your names, phone number, date of birth, state of origin, etc, please make sure your name tallies with the name on your BVN printout.



4) To upload your scanned passport photograph click on " Upload Picture" tab. You might be requested to upload other documents like your Identity Card, Letter of deployment etc.



5) Preview carefully then submit.

For those who are not familiar with NPower online test, the five necessary things stated below will guide you while writing the test



A. Test Duration: Keep your eyes on the time set for you to complete your test on the computer so that you can successfully submit your test before the time expires.



B. Attempt: Remember that in the test there is no two attempt, there is no going back or second chance once you click the submit button.



C. Device Use: Use a reliable device to write the test, preferable a device with a wider screen so that you can have a wider view.

A.If you have changed your name as a result of been married please make sure it reflects on the credentials you will be using for application.

B. If you have not done change of name, then use the name as it appears in your papers and in your bank account.

C. Apply by yourself, do not give your application to the cafe manager.

Cafe Managers are fond of making errors when they not monitored. If cafe attendant must do it for you, be there to correct whatever errors he or she will be making.

Cross check while applying before you make submission.



D. One of the most important thing is to ensure that your account number is active, and it is linked to your bvn.



In order to avoid the issue of unmatched name, unmatched bvn, make sure you fill the on-line application form as your names appear in your credentials and bank account number.



You could face issue of unmatched name if all your papers and ID bear Jane Doe but you go ahead to fill Jane Ebiweni at the application form.

Investigations have found out that more than 80% of beneficiaries who are faced with one issue or the other are those who use names that are slightly different in spelling.

Before you register for NPower carefully go through your bank information and register your name the same way it is with your bank information. Failure to do this may put your stipend on hold should you be employed. You can spend up to 6 months without your stipends before it is rectified.

So, if you are using 2 names but in your bank details there are 3 names, register with the three names. And if u are using 3 names but your bank details are 2 names, register with the two names.

1. Register your name as it appears in your account name and BVN example if your account name is Jane, register it like that if you write Janne it is wrong.

2. Do not use apostrophe in your name because BVN cannot take it example Mua’zu, Sa’idu, Shafi’u, A’isha

3. Do not use an abbreviation in your registration example LAWAL SANI KANO do not write LAWAL SANI K, or UMAR B AHMAD, it is wrong write LAWAL SANI or write it completely LAWAL SANI KANOMA because BVN cannot take abbreviation.

4. Avoid changing letters in writing your names example if your name is Bashar do not write Bashir or Bashiru it is wrong, if your name is AISHA don’t write Aishat or aishatu it is wrong, if your name is kabiru do not write Kabir it is wrong.

5. Avoid using symbols, dash or fullstop in writing your names example Abdul-rahman it is wrong write it completely, ABDURRAHMAN. So please inform our family and friends in other to reduced the number of UNPAID Npower volunteers.

Some of the reasons an NPower volunteer might not get paid are :

A..No matching bvn.

B.When you have a matching bvn but your names do not match. At least two names must match

C. Bank account not linked to bvn

D.Providing a non nuban account number . Nuban account number is the 10 digit account number.

E. Using an NYSC account that receives only 19 thousand naira and cannot receive 30 thousand naira.

N-Power To Begin Selection Of Qualified N-Power Batch C Applicants This Week - Minister

Federal Ministry of humanitarian affairs has commenced the selection of qualified applicants who applied for the just concluded batch c N-Power recruitment.

According to the Minister, the selection process will be observed by due diligence and only qualified applicants will be enrolled in the programme. She further stated that the general public and the applicants will be updated as the recruitment proceeding continues.

Over 5.1 Million Nigerians applied for the batch C N-power 2020 recruitment and only 400,000 will be enrolled at the end.
