Organized by the Wilson Center, this prestigious fellowship supports policy-focused research while giving participants the opportunity to engage with leading decision-makers and fellow experts.
The program welcomes nonpartisan research proposals that address major international affairs and foreign policy issues affecting the United States and the global community. Successful applicants will spend twelve months conducting independent research, producing high-quality publications, and participating in intellectual discussions with experts from different fields.
The Fully Funded Wilson Center Fellowship will start on June 1, 2027, and conclude on May 30, 2028. Although fellows will primarily work remotely throughout the fellowship period, the Wilson Center will fully sponsor travel to Washington, D.C., for both the opening and closing fellowship meetings.

One of the biggest advantages of the Fully Funded Wilson Center Fellowship is its generous financial support. Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $10,000 for the entire 12-month fellowship period, allowing them to focus on their research without financial pressure.
In addition to the monthly funding, the Wilson Center will cover the cost of travel required for the fellowship's official opening and concluding events in Washington, D.C.
Eligibility Criteria for Fully Funded Wilson Center Fellowship
Applicants interested in the Fully Funded Wilson Center Fellowship must satisfy the following requirements:
- Candidates from universities or academic institutions must possess a PhD and demonstrate a strong research record through either a published academic book or monograph beyond their doctoral dissertation, or at least five substantial articles published in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Professionals working in government agencies, public policy organizations, or nonprofit institutions should have at least ten years of relevant experience and an established record of leadership, policy influence, research, or professional achievement comparable to advanced academic standing.
- Applicants must have excellent English language communication skills to actively participate in discussions and knowledge-sharing activities throughout the fellowship.
- Successful applicants must be available to attend the fellowship orientation in June 2027 and the closing meeting in May 2028, both of which will take place at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C.
- Applicants residing in the United States must be either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents since the Wilson Center does not sponsor J-1 visas.
- Applicants living outside the United States must possess a valid passport and be eligible to obtain the necessary travel visa required to enter the United States for the fellowship meetings.
Applicants are not required to be affiliated with any university, research institute, or organization before applying. Fellows may either take leave from their current employment or continue holding other professional affiliations while participating in the fellowship.

- A current curriculum vitae (CV) limited to a maximum of three pages using a 12-point font.
