While we continue to monitor the situation regarding Npower payment to Npower batch c beneficiaries, Npower batch c beneficiaries have given the Federal Government of Nigeria up till this week to lift the suspension of Npower and commence Npower payment to beneficiaries of Npower batch c.

Recall that in previous publications the National Coordinator of Npower have said that Npower payment will start in June although the month of June has not ended yet but beneficiaries of Npower batch c have said that the waiting game is over and are giving the Presidency up till this week to listen to their request for Npower payment to be made otherwise a massive demonstration will take place in Abuja and other states in Nigeria. Beneficiaries of Npower are being owed for 12 months and some beneficiaries of Npower batch c are being owed for 9 months, under the graduate and non graduate categories of Npower. A beneficiary of Npower, (name withheld) claimed that he is yet to receive a dime since he started the Npower program two years ago, another beneficiary of Npower also said that he has only received just one month payment out of 12 months and his place of primary assignment is extremely far from his residence and he spends a lot on transportation. Betta Edu the ex-Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation only made one month payment and after that she was removed as the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and since then beneficiaries of Npower batch c have been left in the dark.

Beneficiaries of Npower are calling on relevant stakeholders in the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to promptly look into their situation and ensure that the suspension of Npower is lifted so that they can start receiving their Npower payment especially in this period of economic hardship in the country.

Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Laments Delay In Appointing Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation

A disability rights group, the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), has expressed strong disapproval over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s delay in appointing a Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, a position vacant since the suspension of Betta Edu.

The Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), expressed hope that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will consider their plea and recognize one Dr. Halimat Adenike Tejuosho’s potential to advance as the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria.

The association’s National President, Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, revealed this in Abuja, during a press briefing, citing Dr. Tejuosho’s commitment and support for persons with disabilities and marginalized communities. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, with immediate effect and asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate financial transactions involving Betta Edu's ministry.

Betta Edu, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is the first minister to be suspended less than six months after her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who won last year’s disputed elections vowing to revive growth in Africa’s biggest economy and fight corruption.

Abdullahi Aliyu Usman said: “As a community dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities and the less privileged, we acknowledge the efforts and strides made by the administration in addressing various societal issues. “In light of this milestone, the community of persons with disabilities respectfully urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider the appointment of Dr. Halimat Adenike Tejuosho as the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

“Dr. Tejuosho’s unwavering commitment and support to the community of persons with disabilities and the less privileged in Nigeria have been exemplary, making her an ideal candidate for this crucial role.”

According to Npower News today Saturday June 15th 2024, demonstration looms as the Federal Government of Nigeria turns deaf ears to the plights of beneficiaries of Npower batch c. The federal government few weeks ago lifted the suspension of the Conditional Cash Transfer but has since failed to lift the suspension of Npower. Npower batch c beneficiaries are being owed three months, six months, nine months and some beneficiaries even twelve months while some beneficiaries are yet to receive a single Npower payment.

Betta Edu the ex-Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a result of allegations of fraud, but since then beneficiaries of Npower batch c have been left in the dark, no one knows the current status of the investigations between Betta Edu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in an undisclosed publication someone even said that the ex-Minister has been secretly moved to another department.

Beneficiaries of Npower batch c have said that it seems the federal government of Nigeria has been taken them for granted, and as a result of this a massive protest will commence soon, date yet to be announced. Beneficiaries of Npower batch c have said that they are not interested in the federal government grant but wants their Npower payment to be paid to them because they worked for it. Some Npower batch c beneficiaries are bread winners of their family and depend on this stipends for their upkeep going with the current economic hardship in the country.

Applicant Matric Number And Date of Birth Must Match To Access Student Loan

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has asked applicants for the students loan programme to ensure that their admission details with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) are intact and the same with what is provided during applications for the student loan.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) insisted that matriculation numbers and admission numbers, as well as full name and dates of birth of applicants must match to support the evaluation process insisting that otherwise could affect the success of their student loan application.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), thus urged applicants to enter their information into the student loan portal accurately when applying for the student loan, and also ensure that their email addresses are entered without error.

Nasir Ayitogo, Head, Media and Public Relations, NELFUND, in a statement, on Thursday, revealed that NELFUND has finalized the plans to publish the list of institutions that have submitted complete students’ information as requested by the Agency, for upload to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS) portal.

Nasir Ayitogo noted that the list which will be published on June 24th, 2024, consists of the list of federal and state-owned institutions.

Nasir Ayitogo explained that the action was to ensure transparency and due access to the student loan, as well as the participation in the student loan scheme, of both undergraduate applicants, and tertiary institutions in this critical exercise.

Nasir Ayitogo confirmed that many federal institutions have already completed the exercise having been the first wave, whilst the process of uploading the data to NELFUND SVS is currently ongoing for the state-owned institutions.

Nasir Ayitogo insisted that individual’s details must feature in institution’s submitted data sent to the NELFUND SVS in order for such applicants to be able to access the student loan.

“Failure to have this verification would invalidate the application process and could put the applicant in a disadvantage position. It’s therefore critical that the information provided by the tertiary institutions is not only complete but also accurate,” Nasir Ayitogo demanded.

Nasir Ayitogo, thus, expressed the delight of NELFUND in the cooperation it has received from the tertiary institutions, at both state and federal levels across the federation.
