According to Npower News, Betta Edu the suspended Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation have congratulated the newly elected Cross River State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Archibong Bassey.

Betta Edu and Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong in a statement on Saturday said: “we heartily rejoice with and felicitate the first female elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Cross River State Council, Comrade Archibong Bassey, on her well-deserved victory.

“Your success and ascension to this exalted position speaks to your diligence, hard work, integrity and professionalism.

“Your emergence was not a surprise to me, because I have watched you closely over the years and noted with satisfaction your dedication, commitment and contributions to advancing national unity and equity through your quality reportage.

“As the Assistant News Manager, NTA Calabar, you showed capacity and objectivity, especially in humanitarian response reporting, hence my special interest in you.

Npower News 11th May 2024

According to Npower News 11th May 2024, the National Coordinator of Npower was seen in a video that surfaced online blaming beneficiaries of Npower for not being supportive of the movement for failing to upload and share their videos with respect to Npower payment so that a documentary can be made and forwarded to media houses such as channels tv, TVC etc.

Furthermore according to Npower News, the Npower National Coordinator said he asked beneficiaries of Npower to write an essay/write-up  so that it can be forwarded to media houses but beneficiaries of Npower did not honour the request.

The Npower National Coordinator also spoke about the death of an Npower beneficiary in Zamfara state who lost his life to bandit. 

In conclusion, the National Npower coordinator implored beneficiaries of Npower to make a video or write-up and forward to him so that he can forward it to media houses, and newspapers, such as Sahara reporters, Daily Trust, etc.

According to Npower News today 10th May 2024, the National Coordinator of Npower said he has been receiving calls from beneficiaries saying that the news of Npower payment by June is fake, in response to this, the National Coordinator of Npower released a video clip (watch attached video below) in this video the Npower National Coordinator was seen countering this claim, the Npower national coordinator reemphasize that Npower payment to beneficiaries of Npower will start next month June and that the suspension of Npower will be lifted this month.

According to Npower News, the Npower national coordinator said that even other beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programmes apart from Npower such as the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme will all receive their benefits. The Npower national coordinator said that yes, in the past the Presidency has fooled the beneficiaries of Npower, but not this time around, he said he does not post fake news. The Npower national coordinator also spoke about the federal government grant, he said that the federal government grant is ongoing and applicants for the federal government grant should be at alert and always monitor their phones for their federal government grant.

Npower News: Reinstate Betta Edu To Continue Renewed Hope Agenda On Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation In Nigeria, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Begs Tinubu

According to Npower News, the need to continue President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda On Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria has been advocated.

The National Body of Ijaw Youth Council(IYC) disclosed this in a press release signed by its spokesman, Comrade Bedford Berefa, after its monthly meeting, in Porthacourt, the Rivers State Capital.

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) said that Betta Edu has been a force to reckon with in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, delivering on core mandate and the brief of her ministry, emphasizing that returning Betta Edu to continue her national assignment in the federal cabinet was a popular request.

“Following our investigations and general assessment of her stewardship, Nigerians , especially the poor and vulnerable, are calling for her reinstatement, and IYC joined in this popular call,”

“While we are not undermining the anti-graft Agency’s efforts to dig in full, what has been happening in the humanitarian affairs Ministry, it is clear that the enemy of the current administration is out to go after the faces of ‘first eleven’ of the Renewed Hope Team, where Betta Edu is visible and standing tall” Comrade Bedford Berefa added.

Continuing, the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide said “According to Nigeria Bereau of Statistics (NBS), Poverty and Inequality in Nigeria” report, highlights that 40.1% of the total population, or almost 83 million people, live below the country’s poverty line.

“These statistics have increased significantly owing to the current hash economic realities and inflation rate of 33.2% in March 2024.

“The vulnerable and poor people are in high hope that President Tinubu will reach out them as part of renewed hope agenda to end Hunger,through a minister who can match words with action and visibility across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

“Dr Betta Edu within her four and half months in office, had a significant impact on the poor and vulnerable population irrespective of their locations.

“We use this medium to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government,to as a matter of urgency reinstate Dr Edu. We observed that she attracted so much enemies within the ministry due to her cleanse operation which got some with soiled hands bittered about her result oriented approach in tackling the humanitarian and poverty alleviation issues in the country.

Npower News: How To Apply For The Federal Government Student Loan

According to Npower News, the federal government student loan was established under the student loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, 2024 and signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 3, 2024. The federal government student loan aims to guarantee sustainable higher education and functional skill acquisition and development for all Nigerian students and youths.

To apply for the Federal Government of Nigeria student loan, the applicant should follow the procedures below: 

Eligibility Criteria For The Federal Government Student Loan

1) The Federal Government Student Loan applicant must have a family with income of less than ₦500,000 per annum.

2) The Federal Government Student Loan applicant must provide 2 civil servants with not less than level twelve years in service or a Lawyer with at least ten years post-call experience; a Judicial officer; or a Justice of Peace as guarantors.

3) Federal Government Student Loan applicant with parents who have defaulted in respect of previous loans will not be disqualified.

3) The Federal Government Student Loan applicant must also not have defaulted on any previous loans or been found guilty of exam malpractice, felony, or drug/narcotics related offenses.

How to Apply For The Federal Government Student Loan

1) The federal government student loan applicant should visit the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and download the student loan application form.

2) Applicant should complete the federal government student loan application form correctly and make sure to enclose all the required documents.

3) The applicant should submit the federal government student loan application form and the correctly enclosed documents to the Student Affairs Office of his or her institution.

Required Documents For The Federal Government Student Loan Application

1) A completed federal government student loan application form

2) A copy of applicant's admission letter

3) A copy of applicant's JAMB result slip

4) A copy of applicant's WAEC/NECO result certificate

5) A copy of applicant's birth certificate

6) A copy of applicant's passport photograph

7) A guarantor’s letter of support from each of applicant's two guarantors

8) A copy of applicant's guarantors’ employment letter(s)

According to Npower News, applicants can apply for the federal government student loans to cover tuition and other fees payable to the school and maintenance allowance payable to the student, repayment of the federal government student loan by beneficiaries will not be initiated until two years after the completion of the National Youth Service Programme (NYSC).

A beneficiary of the federal government student loan may request an extension of enforcement action by the Fund by providing a sworn affidavit indicating that he/she is not employed in any capacity and is not receiving any income, salary or wages. There might be Federal government student loan forgiveness in the event of death or acts of God causing inability to repay the student loan.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund will commence a pilot phase of the federal government student loan scheme with applicants from public tertiary institutions, including federal and state universities, monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

The commencement date for the federal government student loan has not been set for the program.

The National Coordinator of Npower said that the EXCOS are planning to go to Abuja to expedite the payment of the stipend being owed beneficiaries of Npower.

According to Npower News today on Npower registration, the Npower national coordinator said that an appeal would be made to the federal government to allow beneficiaries of Npower to apply for Npower batch d which will kick off by June.

According to Npower News today on the suspension of Npower, the Npower National Coordinator said that the suspension of Npower will be lifted this month May. According to Npower News, the local government area on the federal government grant portal has been updated as we speak, applicants and prospective beneficiaries can visit the federal government grant portal and click on "view beneficiaries" on the federal government grant portal to check the number of beneficiaries that have received the federal government grant against their local government area.
